Throop Peak Skiing

Tracks at the base told a story of recent descents but our target, the "Keyhole Chute" (far left in the pic), was untouched.

James preps for the climb. You can still ski to the car in mid-May!

James on the approach gully

The south side f the ridge at the top was burned off---easy hiking, even in AT boots

Made the summit (9,138') in under an hour and a half

Across the upper snow fields

My tracks through the lower part of the chute.
Keyhole is right: it's generally plenty wide, but there are two spots where you have to "get skinny" and point 'em. All in all, a spectacular couple of hours in the local mountains.
