Joshua Tree Camping

Keith and Kellen went to Joshua Tree with "the Jeremies," as Kellen says. We climbed and camped in Indian Cove.

Climbing at Short Wall

Jeremy Warne (aka "Preaux") learns to lead "trad," placing protection on the way up.

The fire dancers in the adjacent campsite entertained us.

And we entertained ourselves. That's pot roast with all the trimmings in Grandpa C's old dutch oven, slow-cooking, to accompany biscuits (made from scratch). S'mores topped off a fine meal.

Solo! Kellen cuts loose after a lesson from Jeremy Kahn.

The moonlight was so bright we could have climbed all night.

Kellen kept telling us he had seen a monkey up in the rocks. We met our "monkey" neighbor before we left in the morning. He was with the fire dancers and the two girls in capes. The desert attracts a colorful (and friendly) crowd.

Very cool. We'll have to take the three boys camping some day...and you can make that pot roast again! Sounds great.

Great night mt shot. You've got a good eye.

It's a date. Cairn will be ready in two years. D's probably ready now? Maybe we take the two boys to Mt. Whitney next Summer?

That sounds great! However, I'm not sure we're going to be over that way for awhile. Camping in Turkey or Greece maybe???
